Horizontal Dial
An alternative to the shifting by means of the machine dial is what is called the horizontal rotating technology.
Technique
The Technique
Here, the mould is a stack mould with two parallel mould parting lines arranged one downstream of the other, which accommodate the cavities for the preforms and finish mouldings. However, the centre platen does not hold a hot runner, but the two ejector halves. The hot runner is mounted on the stationary and mobile platens. The preforms are shifted through rotation of the centre platen (“turning platen“) around its perpendicular central axis. The horizontal dial may be a component part of the mould or of the machine respectively.
Benefits
Benefits
- For similar machine sizes, shifting with a turning platen facilitates practically twice the output owing to double the number of compartments.
- For the same number of compartments, a smaller machine will be adequate.
Applications
Typical Applications
- Grazing
- Household
- Bulky geometries that would require disproportionally large standard dial diameters
