Rosti China commissions its 100th injection moulding machine from Sumitomo (SHI) Demag

Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) Co., Ltd. delivered its 100th injection moulding machine to Rosti China in the second quarter of 2018. Its 1,100 employees makes the Chinese subsidiary of the Swedish plastics processor the largest of the eight Rosti production plants worldwide.

Rosti has had its own production plant in China since 2002. From the very first day, Pat Williams, Rosti China’s Managing Director, and Stephan Greif, CEO of Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) have been uilding an intensive working relationship that has been fruitful for both of them. “Thirty years ago, we had Demag injection moulding machines at Rosti in Europe,” says Williams. “We knew the technology and the product range inside out. In order to make sure production in China started up smoothly, we invested in proven Demag technology and transferred Demag machines from European locations to China. This ensured that production got going quickly and reliably.” The fact that the German-Japanese injection moulding machine manufacturer was right around the corner with its sales and service team also facilitated cooperation. Further investments in injection moulding machines could now be coordinated with the application specialists at Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo).

Demag Plastics Machinery: long-time partner for system solutions

Rosti China is active in core industries such as office technology, packaging, medical, life sciences, automotive, home automation and B2B products. In addition to contract manufacturing of plastic high end products, the company serves as a full-service provider for many high-tech customers from the electronics industry, offering development and product design solutions. Rosti has built strong capabilities in procurement of external parts, toolmaking, ultrasonic/vibration welding, painting, component assembly and clean room production. “We always provide solutions to our customers working closely in the early stages of design. The long, close cooperation with Sumitomo (SHI) Demag ensures Rosti with a quick response to meet customers’ requirement and quickly adapt into the changing market. Rosti always capitalises into a stable global partner who systematically develops modern technologies.” Robotics and automation is becoming a necessity in China market to achieve high output and low workforce, which is why the availability of high-performance, variable injection moulding machines is key to Rosti China. The closing forces of Sumitomo (SHI) Demag machines range from 35 to 1,600 tonnes, among them El-Exis SP machines are used primarily for packaging products, SE-EV-series electric injection moulding machines for medical products, and Systec machines for automotive products. “This year, we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Demag Plastics Machinery (Ningbo) Co., Ltd.”, Greif says. “The fact that, in the middle of the festivities, the 100th machine is being delivered to Rosti China is of special significance for us. It is a symbol of the strength and success of the partnership between the two of us and between our companies.”
