Rotating with the indexing plate

The indexing plate is designed to transfer the moulding from cavity #1 to cavity #2. This occurs through axial forward movement on the ejector end, rotation through 180 degrees, and return to the ejector end. It is thus possible to modify the contours of the moulding for the second component both, on the stationary platen and on the mobile platen (see the finished part detail below). The axial movements are generated by the ejector on the machine end. The rotation is generated by a hydraulic motor or an electric motor as a component on the injection moulding machine or as component part of the mould.

Benefits
  • Short cycle times, and
  • as compared to the dial, shorter tie bar distances are required in most instances.
Application examples
  • Handles,
  • Ventilation louvres, and
  • Items with sealing lips that require mechanical linkage through enclosure of the preform on either side.
